Last time I shared some of my favorite holiday DIY gifts. Today I’m going to give you a list of ideas and ways to celebrate and spread some cheer! Ready? Let’s get to it!
- Cookie, gift ,or ornament exchanges. Quick and easy. A good way to meet your neighbors, and not break the bank! There are a lot of online resources for setting these up.
- Share your skills. Are you an amazing baker? Or artist? Crafter? Mechanic? Cook? Offer your talents and services as a gift. Or use your talents to make gifts. I would absolutely love it if my friend offered to teach me how to do something, or made me something.
- Your presence. Sometimes just spending time with a friend or loved one is the best gift of all. Maybe meet for a coffee or dinner.
- Phone call. Or Zoom, Facetime, whatever method you prefer. Just like a gift of time, spend time talking with your loved one.
- Acts of Service. Maybe you can’t buy gifts this year, but still want someone to know you care, or it’s a neighbor you don’t want to spend money on? Enter acts of service. Does your loved one need help cleaning before a big holiday party they’re hosting? Maybe your neighbor would like some help raking up all those leaves in their yard? The sky is the limit on this one.
- Make a mixed tape, cd, or a Spotify playlist. Fill it with songs you know they’ll love or that remind you of them. Bonus points if you design a cover!
Gifts don’t have to be fancy, or store bought to be meaningful. The best gift is showing up for the people that matter to us. Doing good for others makes a huge impact, not only for them, and you, but for the rest of us as well. Be honest and sincere with those you care about this year. It matters.
